ICCAT reduces bluefin tuna quota by only 600 tons

The members of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna (ICCAT) have agreed upon a reduction in Atlantic bluefin quotas of only 600 tons in Paris last week. Conservationists say the small reduction from 13.500 tons to 12.900 tons won’t have any positive affect to the highly endangered bluefin tuna.
As one of the leading tuna suppliers we also believe it’s ‘five past twelve’ for bluefin tuna, therefore we do not supply this endangered species. As the closest alternative we supply super frozen yellowfin tuna (-60°C), a highly appreciated sashimi product in Japanese cuisines.
